DEATH OF MISS ANNA MATTSON
PASSED AWAY FRIDAY MORNING AT HAWARDEN HOSPITAL
Was 57 Years Old and a Lifelong Resident of This Community.--Leaves One Sister

Miss Anna Mattson, a resident of this community all her life, passed away at the Hawarden hospital shortly before 8 o'clock last Friday morning, following an illness of several months' duration. Miss Mattson became ill last fall but her condition was not regarded as serious at that time but about five weeks ago she was removed to the hospital in order that she might have the best of medical care. Her sister, Miss Hilma Mattson of Shreveport, La., came to be with her and was her constant companion while she was at the hospital.

Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Ross Funeral Home with Rev. T. H. Harding, pastor of the Associated church, in charge. Interment was made in Grace Hill cemetery.

Anna Mattson, daughter of Gustav and Christine Mattson, was born on the home farm, in Union county, eight miles southwest of Hawarden, April 7, 1878, and passed away May 10, 1935, being just past 57 years of age. When a young girl she united with the Big Springs Baptist church and remained steadfast in that faith until death claimed her. Some over twenty years ago she came to Hawarden with her parents after they had built a beautiful home in this city. She engaged in the dressmaking trade here and as a seamstress she was unexcelled. In her dealings with customers she was ever honest and trustworthy and will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends who formed true friendships in their contact with her in the business world. She was a lover of flowers and took a great deal of pride in the surroundings of her home and during her illness she greatly enjoyed the flowers and blooming plants with which her friends remembered her. She possessed a quiet and unassuming disposition but as a friend she was loyal and helpful.

Her parents, two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Mattson Larson and Miss Nettie Mattson, and one brother, Edward Mattson, preceded her in death. She is survived by one sister, Miss Hilma Mattson of Shreveport, La.
