INTERMENT: Burial in the Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center, Iowa, on Monday, December 4, 2000.
Jacob L. Mantel passed away early Friday morning at his home in Sioux Center at the age of 71
years. He was born on December 27, 1928, at Hospers to Nick and Minnie (De Roo) Mantel. In
1949, after his father died, Jack took over the family farm. On September 14, 1956, in Sioux Center, he married Barbara De Stigter. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1953 to 1955. He enjoyed farming, fishing, traveling, and many recreational activities he shared with his friends. After retiring from the farm he enjoyed working part-time for the City of Sioux Center. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara, of Sioux Center and one sister, Betty, Mrs. Bert Verdoorn of Orange City.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Wilmina, Mrs. Garry Wielenga.
