Henry Slothouber passed away at a LeMars hospital last Friday [September 17]. Some time ago he had been operated on for appendicitis and was recovering nicely when pneumonia set in and he grew rapidly worse. The deceased was born in the Netherlands and was a little over 41 years of age. The family resides on a five acre tract of land a mile south of Alton and his wife, formerly Miss Jennie Den Hartog, and the three adopted children survive the husband and father and also the aged father, Mr. Slothouber of Sheldon. Funeral services were held Monday from the Reformed church at Alton, Rev. J. P. DeJong officiating, and burial took place at the Nassau township cemetery.
