SIOUX CENTER, Iowa; Peter De Stigter, 80, of Sioux Center died Monday, Sept. 2000, at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 Thursday at First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr De Stigter was born Aug. 1, 1920, in Sioux Center, the son of Lane and Barbara (Visser) De Stigter He served in the US Army from 1942 to 1945. He married Myna Vis on May 19, 1948, in Hull, Iowa. He was employed in the construct business and was a partner in Stigter Brothers Construct Co. He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and baseball.
Survivors include his wife: five sons, Harlan and his wife, Jolene of Orange City, Iowa, Ronald of Canton, S.D., Jerome of Sioux Center, Berwyn and wife, Beth of Lennox, S.D., and Douglas of Sioux Center; two daughters and their husbands, Winette and John McEwen of Smithers, British Columbia, Beverly and Don Engler Fountain Hills, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandcildren; three brothers, Leonard Sioux Center, Cornelius of Livonia, Mich., and Melvin of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and four sisters, Alyda Kosters and Helen Wassnaar, both of Sioux Center, France Kalsbeek of Orange City, Lucille Poel of Grand Rapids. Preceded in death by a great grandchild; three brothers, William, Gilbert and Tunis; and a sister, Ada Schoo.
