C. Leonard Ver Mulm
January 13, 1930--December 20, 1995

C. Leonard Ver Mulm, 65, of Rock Valley, died Wednesday, December 20, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley of an apparent heart attack. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 23, at First Reformed Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. Harlan De Jong officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Ver Mulm was born January 13, 1930, in Rock Valley, the son of Case and Artie (Van Zee) Ver Mulm. He graduated from Rock Valley High School and began working for the Iowa Public Service Co. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951 during the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska and later aboard the USS Laws. He married Mabel Vander Sanden October 23, 1953, in Rock Valley. He continued to work for IPS at Rock Valley and in 1961 at Hull. He served on the consistory of First Reformed Church at Hull and was a volunteer fireman and Kiwanis Club member. The couple returned to Rock Valley in 1990 and he retired from IPS in 1993.

He was currently serving as vice president of the consistory of First Reformed Church and was a member of the choir. After his retirement, he worked part time at Den Hoed's Greenhouse of Boyden and Interlink Energy Services of Rock Valley.

Surviors include his wife; two sons and their wives, the Rev. Calvin and Jane Ver Mulm of Ontario, Canada, and David and Jo Ver Mulm of Kansas City; three daughters, Jerilyn Horstman of Cherokee, Gayle and her husband Dwayne Van Leeuwen of Hull and Lisa and her husband Paul Stensland of Sioux Falls; two brothers, Robert and his wife Jo Ver Mulm of Rock Valley and Lyle Ver Mulm of Lakewood, California; four sisters, Elsie De Jongh of Buena Park, California, Lena and her husband Ernie Reaper of Mansfield, Arkansas, Jeanetta and her husband Jack Weege of Dearborn heights, Michigan and Frances and her husband Chuck Hegwein of Columbia, California; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Conrad; a brother-in-law, Willie De Jongh; and a sister-in-law, Jean Ver Mulm
