MYRON J , VANDER WILT
Mr. Myron Vander Wilt, age 69, of Hospers,passed away on Friday,December 15, 2006, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City. There will be a memorial service on Monday, December 18, at 11:00am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hospers. The Rev. Duane Tinklenberg will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a family prayer service on Monday, at 9:30am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hospers.
Myron James was born on July 16,1937, in rural Hospers, the son of Arnold J. and Mae (Kastein) Vander Wilt. He graduated from the Hospers Christian School and attended the Newkirk High School.
On June 14,1958, he married Dorothy Ann Ten Napel in Hospers. As a young man, he worked with his father in the tiling business. He was also involved in the manufacture and delivery of docks for Vander Wilt Docks in Hospers. Later,he farmed in the Newkirk area.
In 1988, Mr. and Mrs. Vander Wilt moved into Hospers. In retirement, they enjoyed being national representatives for the Volunteers of The Bible League.
Myron was a lifetime member of the First Christian Reformed Church,where he served on the consistory as an elder and a deacon, taught catechism classes, sponsored the youth group, belonged to the Men's Society, and sang in the choir and men's chorus. He also served on the board of directors of the Hospers Christian School.
In eariier years, he liked to fish. He also enjoyed snovmiobihng and boating and camping at Round Lake, Minnesota. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially the children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of more than 48 years; four children, Edward John Vander Wilt, and his vnfe, Rebecca, of Sheldon; Ellen Joy,and her husband, Alvin Van Ravenswaay, of Belle Plaine, Minnesota; Margaret Jean Vander Wilt, of Hospers; and Arnold Jay Vander Wilt, and his wife, Debra,of Hospers; nine grandchildren,Anna, and her husband, Noah Fedders; Michael, Jessica, and Joseph Vander Wilt; Maegan and Andrew Van Ravenswaay; and Desiree, Kailee, and Jacob Vander Wilt; a daughter from a previous marriage, Rhonda Carlson; and two brothers and their wives, John W. and Nelva Vander Wilt, of Hospers; and Arlin and Beverly Van Der Wilt, of Paris, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife's parents. Harm and Margaret Ten Napel.
