VERMEER, VERMULM, BOSCALJON

Gertrude Vermeer, 71, of Sioux Center died Friday, April 29, at her residence. Memorial service was Monday at the New Life Reformed Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Carl Boersma officiating. Interment was at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

Mrs. Vermeer was born December 18, 1933, to Case and Cornelia (Boscaljon) Ver Mulm in Rock Valley. She spent her formative years in Rock Valley and attended the Rock Valley school district through the 12th grade. On February 3, 1954, she was united in marriage to James W. Vermeer in rural Sioux Center. They lived most of their lives working side by side on their farm 2[?] miles east of Sioux Center. She enjoyed their time on the farm and raising their three children. In 1991, the couple built their home in Sioux Center. The couple remained very active on the family farm and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of New Life Reformed Church of Sioux Center and enjoyed participating in various church activities.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years, James; three children and their spouses, Brad J. and Barb Vermeer of Sioux Center, Cheryl and Eugene Byker of Hawarden and Mary and Darrel Nyhof of Sioux Center; eight grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Mary Ver Mulm of Cosby, Missouri, Marv and Audrey Ver Mulm of Sioux Falls and Raymond and Ella Mae Ver Mulm of Sioux Center; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Harold Ver Mulm of Rock Valley. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Ver Mulm.

The Vermeer family prefers memorials to CHEARS Home Health & Hospice.
