Saturday morning Peter Hoogschagen died in this city at the age of seventy five years. He came to this country in 1885 from Zyp in the Netherlands and lived for many years near Perkins. The funeral services were held Monday morning. His sons Nicholas Hoogschaaen of Monroe, S. D., and William of Parkins were here to be present at the funeral.
(See obits of daugther Trijntje for more details on the family. His wife Catharina Maria Breed died 24 Feb 1876 at Callantsoog, NH Neth. age 46 parents Jan Breed and Elisabeth Smit. She was born 1829 at Zijpe NH Neth. married to Pieter Hoogschagen May 1, 1858 Zijpe. He was son of Klaas Hoogschagen and Trijntje Dissel. There is no headstone for him but assumed he was buried in Orange City since he died there. )
