Marion Hoogendoorn, age 60, of Rock Valley, died Thursday,March 11. 2004 at Mercy Hospital Sioux City. Funeral service was held Monday at Netherlands Reformed Church in Rock Valley with the Reverend G. M de Leeuw as officiant. Interment was at Valley View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the Netherlands Reformed School.
Marion Hoogendoorn was born September 25, 1943 to Johannas "Joe" and Adrianna (Groeneweg) Hoogendoorn in Rock Valley, IA. He was united in marriage to Mary Koenen on June 7, 1968 in Rock Valley. Marion helped on the farm near Doon until 1984, he then moved his family to Rock Valley where he worked for TCS (formerly Kooima's) for 20 years.
Marion is survived by his wife, Mary; 6 daughters: Loretta (Ken) Ymker of Armour. SD, Annette Hoogendoorn of Utica, SD, Lynnette Hoogendoorn of Rock Valley, Donita (Aaron) Westra of Rock Valley, Tonya Hoogendoorn and fiancee. Chad Zomer, and Michelle Hoogendoorn, all of Rock Valley; 4 grandchildren: Marion, Laura, Alisa Ymker and Shanelle Westra; 3 brothers: Gilbert (Lorraine) Hoogendoorn of Rock, Valley, Joel (Ada) Hoogendoorn of Huclsonville, Ml and Arvin (Betty) Hoogendoorn of Rock Valley; 2 sisters: Coba (Marvin) Van Tilburg of Rock Valley and Margie (John) Mantel of Doon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Marion, and infant granddaughter, Amy Marie Ymker.
