MRS. JOHN HOOGENDOORN
Funeral services were held at the Porter Funeral Home In Rock Valley at 1:30 P.M. July 30 for Mrs. John Hoogendoorn,68, of Rock Valley, who died at her home July 27.
Services were conducted by the Rev. W. C. Lamaln and burial was In Valley View Cemetery In Rock Valley.
Mrs. Hoogendoorn, the former Sadie Van Abbema, was born In The Netherlands February 4, 1906. She came to the U. S. with her parents and was married to John Hoogendoorn at Alvord December 23, 1925. The couple farmed In the Lester-Alvord area and upon retirement moved to Rock Valley. Mr. Hoogendoorn died in 1973.
Survivors Include four sons, Gilbert and Theodore, both of Rock Rapids, Alvln of Inwood and John of Rock Valley; five daughters, Mrs. Willie Davelaar of Rock Valley, Mrs. Arthur Van Veldhulzen of Doon, Mrs. James Burnett of Omaha, Mrs. Albert Schelllng of Orange City and Mrs. Albert Maassen of Canton, S. D.;three brothers, Sam Van Abbema of Rock Valley, Theodore Van Abbema of Mt. Prospect, III., and Charles Van Abbema of Elgin, III.; a sister, Mrs. James Hoogendoorn of Rock Valley; 40 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
