Obituary: Rock Valley, IA: Shirley Bos Vande Vegte, 68, died Saturday March 14, 2009. Funeral Service will be at First Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Burial at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley.
Shirley Ann Poeckes was born May 24,1940 to John and Malinda (Budden) Poeckes in LeMars,
IA. She grew up in Remsen, IA where she graduated from Remsen St Mary's High School.
Shirley was married to Ted Stallman on June 24, 1958 in Remsen (later divorced). She lived in
various Midwest towns before moving to Rock Valley in 1974. Shirley was married to Maynard
Bos on May 29,1979. Maynard died June 3, 2002. Shirley married Arnie Vande Vegte February
18, 2005. Shirley worked at Frank's Grocery and later Van's Food Pride. She was well known for
her cake making and decorating. She loved sewing, cooking, traveling, crafts, spending time with friends, family and her grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Arnie; son, Randy Stallman of Rock Valley; daughters,
Robin (Garry) DeBuin and Julie (Don) Kats all of Rock Valley; step-sons: Duane (Joleen) Bos
of Vermillion, SD, Randy (Cheryl) Bos of Rock Rapids, lA, Rick (Angela) Bos of Larchwood,
David (Corrine) Bos of Norfolk, NE; step-daughter. Amy (Chuck) Meiburg of Rock Rapids, IA;
step-sons Norm (Deb) Vande Vegte and Jeff (Corrine) Vande Vegte all of Rock Valley, Kevin
(Kim) Vande Vegte of LeMars, IA, step-daughters, Lisa Vande Vegte of Sioux Falls, Mamie
(Kevin) Teppen of Minneapolis, MN; 5 grandchildren; many step-grandchildren; brother, David
(Becky) Poeckes of Remsen, IA; sister, Darlene (Dale) Hansen of LeMars, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maynard Bos; step-grandchild, Landon Bos.
