Sioux county Herald of Jun 27, 1900
Heindrik Den Hartog, one of Sioux county's pioneer citizens, died at his home in the western part of the city last Friday morning of pleural pneumonia. He was only ill a few days
but his physician saw at the start that
there waa but little hope for his patient. Deceased was a native of Holland and waa nearly 63 years of age.
He came to Sioux county in 1872, and lived on a farm until about two years ago when he built a fine residence and he and his wife concluded to retire from farm life and moyed to town to spend their declining years, which proved to be few, indeed. About year after moving to town his wife
pasaed away and he was only spared a year longer. They had raised a family of children, all of whom are grown and had gone to homes of their own.
They were people who commanded the respect and confluence of all who knew them. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the First Reformed church of which deceased
was a devoted member, and were conducted
by Rev. M. Kolyn. A large concourse of frienda followed tbe remains to their laat resting place in the Orange Cttv cemetery. THE HEUALD
desires to extend its sympathy to tbe bereaved relatives.
(See his wife's obit for more details. Mrs. Aaltje Den Hartog 1844-1899. His parents were Jan Den Hartog and Aagie Hezendorch.)
