Alton Democrat of May 13, 1899
On Friday, May 5th, occurred the death of Mrs, P, H, Webber, of Peterson, formerly Miss Grace Cole of Ireton, daughter of Rev, and Mrs. Jesse Cole, Mrs. Webber had been ill for several months suffering from a tumorous growth. Her physician at Peterson, did all possible for her,
but without result, and it was thought advisable to have an operation performed. Accordingly she was taken to Sheldon, where the operation was
performed by Dr, Cram. It was hoped that this would be the means of saving her life, but she was unable to withstand the shock and her death
resulted two days later. The funeral occurred at Peterson, last Sunday, and was one of the largest ever held in that community. Rev. Pratt of Storm Lake, conducted the obsequies and delivered a very beautiful and touching sermon. Mrs. Webber was just twenty-six years and two months, of age at the time of her death. She was
formerly a teacher in this county and at the time of her marriage she was holding a position in the city schools of Peterson. She was a graduate of the Sheldon High school, State Normal school and Cornell College of music, and possessed many charming accomplishments, and was
one of the most popular ladies in her community.
Mr. and Mrs, Webber were married in June, 1898 and their short married life had been complete
with happiness, and in her death the sorrowing
husband is deprived of a devoted and affectionate wife and the community one of the noblest of women, Mr, Webber is a well to do
merchant at Peterson, and has a large circle of friends in this county who deeply sympathize with him in his great sorrow.
