WILLIAM VER MULM

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Reformed church of Rock Valley for William Ver Mulm, 55, who died Monday morning, April 21, following a lingering illness. Rev. A. A. Dykstra officiated at the services. Pallbearers were nephews.

Mr. Ver Mulm was born November 2, 1902, to William and Tillie Ver Mulm in Sioux county and lived in the Rock Valley vicinity most of his life. He married Cora Boscaljon February 3, 1932.

He is survived by five children, Gertrude (Mrs. James Vermeer) of Sioux Center, William in the U.S. Army, Harold, Marvin and Raymond, all of Rock Valley; three grandchildren; five brothers, Frank of Hudson, S.D., Robert of Alton, Herbert of Hudson, S.D., William and Jake of Rock Valley; three sisters, Jennie (Mrs. Henry Ver Sluys) of Elkton, S.D., Nellie (Mrs. Louis Middle) and Johanna (Mrs. Albert Gerritsen, Jr.) of Rock Valley.

He was preceded in death by his father on June 24, 1944, his mother, March 11, 1957, and his wife, Cora, March 19, 1956.

Services Held April 23, for C. W. Ver Mulm

Funeral services for Cornelius W. Ver Mulm, 55, Rock Valley trucker, who died Monday, April 21, at a Sioux Center hospital after a long illness, were Wednesday, April 23, at 1:00 in the Rock Valley funeral home and 1:30 at the First Reformed church. A. A. Dykstra officiated and burial was in the Valley View cemetery.

Mr. Ver Mulm, a lifetime resident of Rock Valley, was born November 2, 1902, in rural Rock Valley. February 3, 1932 he married the former Cornelia Boscaljon of Doon.

Survivors include a daughter, Gertrude, Mrs. James Vermeer of Orange City, four sons, William C., 23, who is stationed in the army, Harold, 20, married and employed at the Community Oil Co. in Rock Valley, Marvin, 16, and Raymond, 13, who will live with Mr. and Mrs. William Ver Mulm, jr., aunt and uncle, eight miles northwest of Rock Valley and three grandchildren.

He is also survived by five brothers, Frank and Herbert of Hudson, S.D., William jr. and Jake of Rock Valley and Robert of Alton; three sisters, Jennie, Mrs. Henry Ver Sluys of Elkton, S.D., and Johanna, Mrs. Albert Gerritsen and Nellie, Mrs. Louis Middle, both of Rock Valley.

He was preceded in death by his father in June, 1944 and his mother on March 5, 1957. Mrs. Ver Mulm died March 19, 1955.

Pallbearers were William Leroy, Henry and Peter Ver Mulm, Lawrence Middle and Donald Gerritsen, nephews of the deceased.

An obituary similar to that in the Sioux Center News was published in the Alton Democrat (May 1). It also calls him William and his wife, Cora.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index gives his name as Cornelius (no W.) and his wife as Cornelia.
