FUNERAL OF ANTHONY VIS THIS AFTERNOON
14 Year Old Son of Mr. and Mrs. P. Vis Died Tuesday Morning from Accident Injuries

Anthony Vis, the fourteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Vis, died early Tuesday morning [August 22] at the local hospital from injuries received in an auto accident. Anthony was seriously injured on Saturday, August 5th, when the Vande Berg dairy delivery truck on which he was riding, turned over as the result of a collision with a car driven by Peter Ver Maat, pinning Anthony under the truck and fracturing several of his ribs and puncturing his lungs.

Anthony would have been fifteen years old next March. Besides his parents he leaves to mourn his loss four brothers -- Peter Jr., Gerald, Clayton, and Harvey, and one sister, Marie Joyce, and a host of relatives and friends.

He was active in the Boy Scout troop and Sunday School work and was liked by all who knew him.

The funeral will be held this week Thursday afternoon at 1:30 from the home and 2:00 from the First Reformed Church, Rev. G. H. Der[illegible] conducting the services. The pall bearers will all be his boyhood friends and members of his Sunday School class: Vernon Droog, Vernon Brunsting, Vernon Ten Haken, Roger Van Batavia, Alvin Wolfswinkel and Kenneth Faber. The Boy Scouts will be honorary pallbearers and will attend the services in a body. Interment will be made in Hope Cemetery beside the grave of his infant brother who was buried a little over three weeks ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Vis and children have the sincere sympathy of all, in the trouble which has been theirs the past few weeks.
