The death of Michael Dowd occurred last week,at St. Joseph's hospital in Sioux City, where he was taken a short time ago for medical treatment.
He was seventy-eight years of age, and one of the early settlers of this county, residing here a number of years, and subsequently removing to
LeMars, He will be kindly remembered by a great many people in this county.

Michael Dowd, who went to the Samaritan hospital some short time a go for treatment, expired there on Thurs day morning. His death was due to
bronchial trouble. He was seventy four years of age. He expressed a wish to return home last Tuesday and his daughter. Miss Lizzie Dowd and Mr. John Beeley went down to bring him home. The day was too inclement for him and on Thursday Mr. Beeley went down on the early train to bring him home but he dropped dead. In a fit of coughing a few minutes before Mr Beeley's arrival. His wife, Mrs. Dowd (Bridget Ryan)
died only last January. They were married in 1849 in New York and lived subsequently in Milwaukee and Wisconsin, They came to lowa about
twenty-five years ago and have lived In LeMars for t h e past nine vears. Mr. Dowd leaves six children, Mrs. J. C. O'Donnell and Mrs. James Summerville of Deadwood, S. D , Mr, Dowd, of Sheldon, Mrs. J. F. Banks and Miss Lizzie
Dowd of this city and Miss B. Dowd of Remsen.
The funeral will be held this (Saturday)
morning at St , James church at 10 o'clock.

Mrs. M. Dowd, who has been a sufferer
from heart disease for nearly two
yours, passed away at six o'clock on
Tuesday morning at the age of 67 years
and the funeral will be hold from St.
James' church on Thursday morning, Rev. Blather Barren conducting the services.
Mrs.Dowd has been a patient sufferer
for more than two years from a difficulty
which was constantly threatening her life. She was a true Christian woman and a most devoted wife and mother and the death will fall with
crushing force upou the aged husband, who is in feeblo health and the family of children who to dearly love her.
She was born in Geneva N. Y., her maiden name being Ryan. She was united in marriage to Michael Dowd in August 1849 and eleven children
six of whom survive her were born to them. They are: Mrs. J. C. O’Donnel and Mrs J Sumnaerville who both reside at Dead wood, S. D., Mr. T. Dowd of Sheldon, Mrs. P. J. Banks and two unmarried daughters reside in LeMars
When first married they went to Milwaukee and after n residence there they lived in Michigan coming to Iowa about twenty-five years ago and have resided in LeMars for the past nine
years where she was greatly loved by
all who knew her
