DUNCAN, MCMANAMAN, JOHNSON

Robert O. Duncan, business man of Hudson, who was well known in Hawarden , passed away in Chicago Monday May 8 following an operation for stomach ulcers. His remains were brought back to Hudson and funeral services were held at the Lutheran church last Friday afternoon, with Rev. Richard Larson in charge. Burial was in Eden cemetery

Robert Oakes Duncan, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Archie Duncan was born on a farm near Beresford May 5, 1894, and so had attained the age of 50 years at the time of his death. When 13 years of age he came to Hawarden and lived here for a number of years, after which he moved to Hudson. He was united in marriage with Rose McManaman of Hawarden in 1913 and to this union were born five children, one of whom died in infancy. The surviving children of this marriage are Mrs. Paul Meyers of Junture, Calif.; Mrs. Robert Lansey of Chicago; Miss Veronica Duncan of Sioux Falls and Sgt. Fern Duncan who in the marines, of Philadelphia, PA. His first wife died in Sep 1922.

In April 1924 he married Della Johnson of Hudson and to this union were born eight children, Pvt Robert Jr. who is in the marines at San Diego, Calif.; Frank of Chicago and Delbert,Patrica, Bette, William, James and Donald, at home. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Nellie Duncan of North Hollywood, Calif; and four sisters Sallie and Viola and Mrs. Perle Ellis of California and Mrs. Ruby Gourley of Hudson
