DEATH CLAIMS MRS. G. E. WELLS
Former Chatsworth Resident Dies in Hampton Hospital

Mrs. G. E. Wells of Dumont, a former resident of Chatsworth, passed away Feb. 23 at the Hampton hospital where she had been a week. Mrs. Wells was well known in Hawarden as well as in Chatsworth and her many friends will regret to learn of her death. When she lived in Chatsworth Mr. Wells operated a general store. The following account appeared in the Feb. 25 issue of the Dumont Journal:

Mrs. G. E. Wells passed away early Monday morning from a heart ailment at the Hampton hospital, where she had been a patient for a week while receiving treatment.

Flora Mae Sanford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sanford, was born near Lawler, Iowa, June 9, 1866. She was married to G. E. Wells, Nov. 22, 1893, at New Hampton. For two years she lived at Akron, Iowa, at Chatsworth from 1895 to 1926, at Riceville from 1926 to 1929, and resided here since May, 1929. She was a member of the O.E.S., White Shrine and O.E.S. club. She withdrew from other organizations when unable to do her part.

Mrs. Wells was the last member of her family, her parents, three brothers and a sister preceding her. Surviving, with the husband, is a son, Floyd Wells of Eldora, and two grandchildren, Ann and George Wells.

Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at the home at 1:45, and at 2 at the Methodist church, in charge of R. H. Vogel, with Rev. B. G. Kamper, pastor, officiating. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Harry Searle, Carl Boeckenmeier, Mrs. R. J. Pfaltzgraff and Mrs. J. R. Britcher, assisted by Mrs. Carl Boeckenmeier at the piano. Members of the Eastern Star had a part in the services. Pallbearers were S. G. Barlow, J. A. Barlow, Fred Dennis, J. R. Britcher, F. L. Burrows and M. E. Johnson. Burial was in the local cemetery.
