Final Services To Be Friday For Leland Vernon
Leland Bernard Vernon, 48, a lifelong resident of Hawarden, succumbed to a heart attack here late Tuesday afternoon [November 14].
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. C. E. Custer officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill cemetery under direction of the Barnard Funeral home.
Mr. Vernon had been an employee of the Hub Clothiers in Hawarden for about seven years prior to suffering a severe heart attack October 16, 1960. Before that he had worked in the men's clothing store with W. E. Niemeyer for 20 years.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred F. Vernon, he was born at Hawarden April 20, 1913. The only other immediate survivor is his sister, Shirley, Mrs. John Hill, of Hawarden.
He was a member of the Methodist church and the Methodist Men's club. He graduated from Hawarden high school with the class of 1932.
