Carol Lynn was born on February 28, 1948, in Davenport, the daughter of Frank W. and Opal Arlene (Fiscus) Hulsart. She was raised at Wheatland, Moorhead, and Glidden, Iowa, where her father was Superintendent of Schools.

In 1962, she moved to Orange City with her family. She graduated from the Maurice-OrangeCity High School in 1966 and attended the Sioux Falls College in South Dakota.

Carol made her home in Orange City, where she courageously dealt with health problems much of her life. For many years, she wrote a weekly column for the Sioux County Capital-Democrat titled "Carol’s Chimes", which provided an encouraging, optimistic, and Christian outlook on life.

She was a member of the Dover Avenue Alliance Church in Orange City, but was currently attending the New Hope Evangelical Free Church. In her earlier years at the Dover church, she taught Sunday school classes, attended Bible studies, and sang in the choir.
\pard line Carol had a deep love for her whole family, but especially adored her nieces. She was also known for her fondness of cats.

Survivors include her mother, Opal Hulsart; a brother and his wife, David and Karen Hulsart; and two nieces, Laura Lynn Hulsart and Rachel Arlene Hulsart, all of Orange City.

She is also survived by many special friends, most of whom assisted in Carol’s daily life. The family greatly appreciated their faithful support, especially that of those who regularly drove Carol to her dialysis treatments.

She was preceded in death by her father.
