Wm. H. Vermeer died at the Methodist Hospital in Sioux City after a brain illness of less than 24 hours duration. Death came on Monday, Mar. 16, 1942 at the age of 40 years and 2½ 1 months:
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 19, at 1:30 from the home near Sioux Center and 2 P.M. in the First Ref. Church with Rev. L. A. Brunsting officiating.
He was born on a farm near Sioux Center, Dec. 31, 1901. On Dec. 31, 1924 he was united in marriage to Jennie Vander Aarde of Orange City, Iowa. They have lived near Sioux Center during their married 1ife.
Surviving are his widow and two sons, Wilbur, age 14, and Donald, age 11, his aged mother, Mrs. H. Vermeer Sr., six brothers and three sisters. The brothers & sisters are: Mrs. Henry De Vries (Jennie) of Sioux Center; Mrs. Albert Schimmel (Dena) of Sioux Center; Jake of Sioux Center; Henry of Sioux Center; Peter of Los Angeles, Calif.; Joe of Burlington, Ia.; John of Orange City; Theodore of Sioux Center and Mrs. Harold Beernink (Henrietta) of Sioux Center.
"Bill" as he was known by all his associates was active in the community and church. For the last several years he was in charge of the county work, acting as road patrol when it was necessary. He leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vermeer of Burlington, Iowa arrived on Tuesday to attend the last rites of his brother. Mrs. Raymond Cox, a niece from Seattle. Washington, arrived on Wednesday night for the funeral.
