SHELDON: Marguerite H. Vermeer, 87, Sheldon, died Saturday, March 23, 2002 at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.
Services were Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, with the Rev. Kenneth Versteeg officiating. Burial was at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
Marguerite Vermeer, daughter of Dr. Gerritt and Vashti (Cram) Vermeer, was born June 11, 1914, in Rock Valley. She moved with her parents to Sheldon in 1917.
She graduated from Sheldon High School in 1933 and Stephens College in Columbia, MO, in 1935, and attended University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ, for a year and a half. She returned to the Sheldon area where she made her home.
She moved into the Bee Hive Homes assisted-living facility in Sheldon on April 14, 2001.
She was a member of P.E.O. in Sheldon and she enjoyed reading. Survivors include a sister, Helen Hayes of Hampton, VA; a nephew, Gary Hayes of Jamestown, NC; three great-nieces; and close "family" friends, Sidney "Sid" and Marie Vander Griend of Sheldon, and their children.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister.
