MARVIN H. VERMEER was born to Jacob and Henrietta (Nieman) Vermeer on July 11, 1925 at Sioux Center, Iowa. As a young man he graduated from the Sioux Center Christian School On February 26, 1948 he married Gladys Bartels. She preceded him in death in June of 1975 after 27 years of marriage. He was united in marriage to Loretta (Vande Vegte) De Roon on January 30, 1981.
Marv lived at Sioux Center all his life. He farmed for many year and in 1991 moved from the farm into Sioux Center after retiring. To keep busy during retirement, Marv drove truck and worked for NobIe Labs.
Marv was a member of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center where he sang in choir for many years. He served on the board of directors of Harmony Home in Orange City and the Florence Crittenton Home in Sioux City. In his spare time Marv, enjoyed golfing and bowling, however, he was most fond of spending time with his grandchildren and watching their activities.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 21 years, Loretta Vermeer of Sioux Center; two sons: Marlin Vermeer of Broomfield. CO. and Marty (Jennifer) Vermeer of Bondurant, IA; step-daughter, Linda (Dan) Gould of Boone, IA; two daughters, Ann (Henry) Wynia of Sioux Center and Marcy (Danny) Landreth of Shawnee, OK alon with his 12 grandchildren. Man, is also survived by his mother-in law, Alydia Vande Vegte; brother, Arnold (Frances) Vermeer; sister, Johanna (Harvey J.) Vermeer all of Sioux Center numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
In addition to his first wife, Gladys, Marv was preceded in death by an infant son, Jaylon; his parents, Jacob and Henrietta Vermeer; parents-in-law, Bert and Margaret Bartels; father-in-law, Henry Vande Vegte; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Wilber and Harriet Vermeer, Bert and Angeline Vermeer, Edward and Priscilla Vermeer and sister and brother-in-law, Harriet and John Vander Schaaf.
