Richard B. Van Voorst, 78, of Sioux Center died Wednesday, April 28, at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Services were Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Robert Drenton officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

Van Voorst was born January 1, 1921, in Sioux Center to Bert and Hattie (Schutt) Van Voorst. He moved to Ireton in 1939 to farm. He retired and moved to Sioux Center in 1982. He enjoyed raising flowers, gardening and caring for his lawn. He was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include one sister, Hermina Van Voorst of Sioux Center; two brothers and their wives, John B. and Harriet and Ted and Geraldine, all of Sioux Center. He was preceded in death by his parents.
