Tamara Joy Van Voorst, 13, died May 6, at a care center in Gresham, Oregon. A memorial service was at Fellowship Bible Church in Bend, Oregon, May 12. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Bend.

She was born July 14, 1974, in Escondido, California, to Jim and Linda Van Voorst. She suffered incapacitating brain damage at birth. She moved with her parents to the Applegate Valley in Southern Oregon in April 1976. Shortly after her sister, Tonya Van Voorst, was born, her declining health necessitated her being placed in a full-time professiona nursing care center, Providence Child Center in Portland, where she lived until she outgrew their facilities. She was transferred in November 1981 to Rest Harbor Extended Care Center in Gresham, where she lived until her death.

Survivors include her parents; two sisters, Tonya Michelle and Teresa Lynn Van Voorst; two brothers, Travis William and Timothy John Van Voorst, all of Bend, Oregon; her maternal grandmother, Henny Wybenga of San Marcos, California; maternal great-grandmother, Lidewij Lodder of Oud-Bierland, The Netherlands; paternal grandparents, William and Alice Van Voorst of Sioux Center; 13 aunts; 12 uncles; and 26 cousins.
