Mrs.Gerrit Ellerbroek
Funeral services were held at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home at Sheldon Saturday afternoon, May 2 for Mrs, Gerrit Ellerbroek, who passed away at a Cherokee hospitial Wednesday morning, foloowing a brief illness. Dr. Thomas, pastor of the Congregational church officiated and burial took place in the East Lawn cemetery in Sheldon.

Mrs. Ellerbroek, nee Hattie Beernink was born on a farm southwest of Sioux Center December 26, 1879, and grew to womanhood in this area. In June, 1904, she married to Gerrit Ellerbroek, who preceded her in death October, 1950.

She is now survived by her two sons, Vernon of Cherokee and William of Sheldon, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also a sister Mrs. George Siemen, and a brother, Henry Beernink, both of Sioux Center.

Preceding her in death, besides her husband, were one sister Mrs. Ella De Mots and for brothers, Simon, John, Reuben and Gerrit Beernink, all of Sioux Center.

Mrs. Ellerbroek had spent the winter month in California and recently returned to Cherokee to be with her son.
