Mr. Gerrit E. Vermeer Passed away on Saturday in Quincy, Washington at the age of 79 years. He was born on April 19, 1917, in Sioux Center to Evert G. and Hermina (Hoksbergen) Vermeer. He attended country school. On June 6, 1940, in Sioux Center, he married Esther De Zeeuw. In 1961, they moved to Lynden, Washington, and in 1989, they moved to Quincy, Washington, He was a farmer, a carpenter, and an avid sportsman.
He is survived by his wife, Esther, three daughters and two sons: Marilyn Gradert of Ireton; Maxine and her husband, David Richner of Warden, Washington; Iva and her husband, Larry Vander Giessen of Moses Lake, Washington; Evert and his wife, Candy Vermeer; and Don Vermeer, all of Quincy, Washington. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Twelve great-grandchildren and two sisters and one brother: Alice, Mrs. Edwin Sneller of Sioux Center; Esther, Mrs. Loyd Popma of Clara City, Minnesota; and Verlan of Rock Rapids, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son-in-law, Kenneth Grandert, and two sisters, Priscilla Postman and Margaret Schotten
