We are sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Sawyer, a former resident of Perkins. Mr. and Mrs. Sawyer left their home in Hull about two weeks ago for Buffalo NY, to spend the winter with relatives and friends, where he took sick and died. Mrs. Sawyer returned to Hull with the remains and the funeral was held on Wednesday. The sympathy of this community goes out to the widow and sons in their sad bereavement.
(From the Cemetery Index of Sioux county buried in HOpe Cemetery of Hull. Charles C. Sawyer b. 2 Aug 1831 died 5 Dec 1898 wife Mary Lee b. 7 Nov 1837 died 2 May 1904.
Found an account on ancestry.com that states his father was Nathan Saywer and mother was Azubah Austin. He was born at Clarence NY, Married Mary Munger Lee May 26,1857, Lived at Buffalo Erie NY in the 1860, 1870 census and showed up in the 1880 census of Lincoln Tsp, Sioux County IA. They had two sons - Charles Nathaniel Sawyer 1858-1926 and Henry Sawyer 1860- . )
