MARY ANNE C. VLIETSTRA
Mrs. Maryanne Vlietstra, age 48, of Orange City, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2007, at the Orange City Area Health System Hospital.
There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, September 11, at 10:30am, at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Dr. Perry De Groot and Mr. Tom Hydeen will officiate. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Maryanne Cecilia was born on August 6, 1959, in Sioux City, the daughter of William Donald and Ella Marie (Dunn) Gnewuch. She was raised at Sioux City, where she attended St. Michael's Catholic School. In 1970, her family moved to Alton, where she attended St. Mary's Catholic School and Spalding Catholic High School in Granville.
On October 6, 1979, she married Kenneth Paul Vlietstra in Orange City. They made their home in Orange City, where she was a homemaker. She was also employed at K-Products and as a waitress and in day care.
Mrs. Vlietstra was a member of the First Reformed Church. She enjoyed bowling, camping, making crafts, working puzzles, and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Ken; two daughters, Jennifer Gnewuch, of Sioux City; and Hollie Vlietstra, of Orange City; a son, Josh Vlietstra, of Omaha, Nebraska, and his fiance', Elonda; five grandchildren, Zaire, Leon Jr., Ciara, and Marsellus Dean; and Kayla Vlietstra; her mother, Ella Bahmer, of Moville; and three brothers, Tom Gnewuch, and his wife, Donna, of Birch Bay, Washington; Kevin Gnewuch, of Waterloo; and Richard Gnewuch, of Birch Bay.
She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
