Burial in the Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center, Iowa, on Saturday, September 22, 1990.
Mr. Edwin J. Vermeer passed away late Wednesday night at his son’s home in Sioux Center at the age of seventy-eight years. On July 12, 1940, in Sioux Center he was united in marriage to Priscilla Schuiteman who preceded him in death on May 20, 1987. He is survived by two children: a son Glen and his wife, Betty, with their three children Paul, Lora, and Mark of Sioux Center; a daughter Lois and her husband, Lee Broughton, and their children Gary and Lisa of Seattle, Washington. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Harriet, Mrs. John Vander Schaaf; Wilbert J.; Johanna, Mrs. Harvey Vermeer; Marvin; and Arnold; all of Sioux Center. One brother, Bert, preceded him in death. Ed attended the Christian School as a youngster and farmed on the farm one mile West of Sioux Center most of his life. He was a member of the First Reformed Church where he served as an elder and a deacon..
