From the Alton Democrat of Jan 14, 1899
The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Welchert died last Thursday evening, after a short illness. Little Ida would have been with tem a year on next Wed., Jan 18th, and during her short stay they had learned to love her with all of a parent's fond and tender love, and their grief is almost inconsolable. Just when thier home was blessed with the happy prattle of childhood, death seems more than cruel to deprive them of it, as it has done so many times, causing them to mourn the loss of their little ones. The sympathy of the community goes out to them in this their hour of grief. The funeral will be held from St. Mary's church Saturday maorning at 9 O'clock.
