John T. De Boer
Dies Suddenly
Mr. John T. De Boer died very suddenly at his home early Tuesday morning following a heart attack. Although he had been having heart trouble for a number of years, he had been well all day Monday, as also recently. He had reached the age of 59 years and five months.
He is survived by the widow and two daughters Hertilda (Mrs. Herman De Vries) and Esther (Mrs. Wm. R. Beernink). Also one granddaughter Vickie Lee Beernink. There are also three brothers Henry of Sioux Center, Roy of Le Mars and George of Sioux Center and two sisters, Mrs. Bert Bartels and Mrs. John Mieras, both of Sioux Center.
Mr. De Boer was born in the Netherlands on Nov. 13, 1889. He came to America with his parents at the age of 2½ years and spent all the remainder of his life in the immediate vicinity of Sioux Center. On March 7, 1912 he was united in marriage to Miss Kate Vander Wilt. After their marriage they made their home on a farm northeast of town for 16 years. After that time they made their home in town, living for a great deal of the time with her aged parents who needed care.
He had just recently gone into the real estate business in partnership with Mr. Hans Faber and had worked in their new down town office all day on Monday.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon, May 5, at one o’clock at the home and at one thirty o’clock at the First Reformed church. Rev. Peter A. De Jong will officiate and burial will take place at the local cemetery. Acting as pall-bearers will be James De Boer, Theran De Boer, Marvin De Boer, Andrew Vermeer, Marvin Vermeer and Tony Ver Hoeven.
Mr. De Boer was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. T. De Boer, one brother and four sisters who all died in infancy.
