Final Rites Held Monday for
Henry T De Boer, 72
Had Resided in This~ Area 68 Years
Funeral services were held at the First Reformed church here at 1:30 pm. Monday for Henry T. De Boer, 72, prominent retired farmer and a resident of Sioux Center community for 68 years, who died at the Sioux Center Community hospital early Thursday evening following a long illness.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Harry Brower and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community Cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg’s Funeral.
A brief service was held at the family home at, 327 First Avenue Southeast, preceding the service at the church.
Pallbearers were Everett De Boer, James DeBoer, Robert De Boer, Elmer Vermeer Robert Nykamp and Harlan Mulder
Mr. DeBoer was born in the Netherlands September 14, 1887 and at the age of four moved to Sioux County, Iowa, with his parents, who settled on a farm west of Sioux Center. He had continued to reside in this vicinity until his passing.
On May 4, 1912, Mr. DeBoer was married to Maggie Vermeer who survives him.
Other survivors include three sons, Jim of Maurice, Everett Sioux Center and Robert of Grand Rapids; three daughters; Harriet (Mrs. Elmer Vermeer) of Sioux Center, Florence (Mrs. Robert Nykamp) of Denver, and Phyllis (Mrs. Harlan Mulder) of Ann Arbor, Mich.; 21 grandchildren; brothers, Roy of LeMars, and George of Maurice; and two sisters, Margaret (Mrs. Bert Bartel) of Sioux Center, and Alice (Mr. John Mieras) Sioux Center.
His brother, John, preceded him in death on May 4, 1948. A grandchild, Terrance Evan DeBoer, died on June 1, 1957. One brother and four sisters died in infancy.
Mr. DeBoer was an elder of the First Reformed church here for many years.
