Peter De Kam, 74, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1987 at a hospital in Sioux Center.
Funeral services were Wed., Oct. 6 at 1:30 p.m., at the First Reformed Church of Sheldon with Rev. Warren Hietbrink officiating.
Interment was in Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley under the direction of the Andringa Funeral Home of Sheldon.
Pallbears were Richard De Kam, Wade De Kam, Chad De Kam, Kendall De Kam, Randy Vander Werff and Jim De Kam.
Peter De Kam, son of John & Nellie De Kam, was born Sept. 6, 1913 in the Netherlands. He came to the United States in 1921, lived his youth and attended rural schools in Chandler, MN and Rock Valley.
He married Marie Ver Mulm of Rock Valley on December 29, 1937 at Melvin. They lived in Rock Valley and later farmed in the Sheldon aea until retiring to Sheldon.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; a daughter, Delores (Mrs. John) Vander Werff, Sanborn; 2 sons, Kenneth De Kam, Sanborn and Wayne De Kam of Colorado Springs, CO; eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild; two brothers, Clarence, Rock Valley and Sam of Rock Rapids; seven sisters, Johanna (Mrs. Gipbert) Bakker, Lena (Mrs. Peter) De Roon; Anne (Mrs. John) Van Beek, Catherine (Mrs. Leonard) Groeneweg, Francis (Mrs. Clarence) Boer, Martena (Mrs. Ed) Kragt all of Rock Valley, and Elizabeth (Mrs. John)Oostra of Hudsonville, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and one grandchild.
