STEPHEN DE JONG
August 28, 1873—December 3, 1959
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday from the First Reformed church of Orange City for Stephen De Jong, 85, who passed away at his farm home Saturday of a heart attack.
Mr. De Jong was born August 28, 1873, near Orange City where he continued on the farm with his parents until 1901 when he married Annie Mouw. Five children were born to them.
Rev. H. Colenhrander officiated and burial was made in the Orange City cemetery under the direction of Van Etten funeral home.
Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Edward Meier of Coleridge, Neb., and Miss Earline, at home; a son. Bernard, at home; two brothers, Henry K. of Orange City and Joe K. of Sheldon; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Sterrenburg and Mrs. H. P. Muilenburg, both of Orange City.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, three brothers and one sister.
