Greta Marie was the daughter of Kenneth and Janice (Hoogewerf) Veenstra. She was raised at Orange City. She attended Sioux Center Community Schools and graduated from Rock Valley High School. Greta was a client of Hope Haven in Rock Valley until February of 1991, when she transferred to Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon.
She was employed at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Sioux Center Community Hospital, Rock Valley bowling alley, and Northwest Enterprises and Fantasia in Sheldon. Greta especially liked to work at the Kiln and Kupboard in the Village.
On November 12, 2002, she became a resident of the Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon.
Greta was a professing member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church. She attended Sunday School and Friendship Bible Series for many years.
Her favorite activities included listening to music. watching videos. and playing table games with friends and family. She was also a member of the Village Bell Choir.
Greta’s life was exemplified by her unconditional love for others and her simple. yet sincere witness of her love for Jesus.
Survivors include her parents. Ken and Jan Veenstra of Orange City:
two brothers and their wives, James and Renee Veenstra of Cedar Falls; and Kevin and Carrie Veenstra of Escondido, California; a sister and her husband, Joy and Shane Scholten of Des Moines; eight nephews and nieces, Daniel. Ian. Jenna. and Ashton; and Devin, Brennan, Cailee. and Kenden: 21 uncles and aunts. Jacob and Delores Hoogewerf, Helen and Alvin Smit, Bob and Lorraine Bultema, Gerald and Dolores Hoogewerf, Dave and Marilyn Huge, John and Ruth Hoogewerf, Dave and Ruth Van Dyk, Joyce Briscoe, Wilbur and Carolyn Veenstra, Lester and Katrina Veenstra, and Marie and Francis Schiebout: and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents. Lambert and Hester Veenstra and Gerrit and Greta Hoogewerf.
