Marie J. De Jong, 86, of Riverside, California, formerly of Maurice and Bronson. died Monday, January 26, 1998 in Riverside.
Services were Tuesday, February 17, at New Life Community Church in Artesia, California.
Mrs. De Jong was born in Chicago. She married Richard De Jong. The couple moved to Maurice in 1930. They owned and operated the Maurice Truck Service and then the Maurice Cafe. They moved to Bronson where they operated the Bronson Feed and Hardware from 1947 to 1949.
In 1956 they moved to Artesia where she drove a school bus for the ABC Unified School District until retiring in 1977. He died in 1981.
She entered the Artesia Christian Home in 1981, then the Villa DeAnza Retirement Home in Riverside.
Survivors include a son, Richard Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida; two daughters, Norma Jean Leichtweis of Anaheim, California. and Betty Ann Folsom of Riverside; two sisters, Ann Stewart of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Bernice Sgobba of Joilet, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
