Death of E. Van Olst.
At four o'clock Saturday morning occurred the death, at the age of 65, of E. Van Olst at his home in the east part, of town. The funeral was held from the First Reformed church, Rev.
Stapletamp officiating, on Monday and was attended by a large concourse of friends and relatives. Deceased was a man of sterling character, much respected in this community, and known all over the county, and his death,
though it had been expected for some time, will be greatly felt in Orange City and Sioux county. Mr. Van Olst was one of the very oldest settlers, coming here with Henry Hospers in the early sixties and was in the courthouse raid
on Calliope more than thirty years ago.
The following children are left to mourn his loss: Mrs. Jerry Raak, Lambert Van Olst, and Mrs. P. Van Gorp of Orange City; John Van Olst
of Leota, Minn.: Gerrit Van Olst of Perkins, and Miss Jennie Van Olst of Sioux Center. Mrs. Van Olst died some four years ago.
