Lawrence Winter age 75 of Bismarck, ND died unexpectedly at his home in Bismarck, ND on March 30, 2011.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16th at St. John Lutheran Church at Boyden, IA with Rev. S. Kim and Trudy A. Peterson, officiating. Inurnment will be prior to the memorial service in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery at Boyden, IA.

Lawrence William Winter was born January 23, 1936, at Boyden, Iowa the son of Lorna (Michels) and Albert L. Winter. Lawrence was baptized on February 16, 1936 and later confirmed on April 2, 1950 at St. John Lutheran Church at Boyden, IA. His God-father was John Stegeman. He attended parochial school until 1950 and graduated from Sheldon Public School in 1954. Lawrence furthered his education and graduated from: Waldorf Lutheran Junior College in Forest City, Iowa; Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota, with a B.A. in 1958 and then graduated from Wartburg Seminary with a B.T. degree, at Dubuque, Iowa. Lawrence was ordained at St. John Lutheran Church at Boyden, Iowa on July 29, 1962 by Pastor Ted Winter of Texas. During his life he pastored churches as Thief River Falls, MN, Sabula, IA, Waubun, MN, Williams, IA, Earlsville, IA, Zap, ND and Benedict, ND. Lawrence was united in marriage to Sylvia Jean Shower on June 1, 1962 at Edgerton, MN and to this union was born a son, David. As a young wife and mother, Sylvia died in 1978. After many years of dedication to the Lord, Lawrence retired from ministry and lived in Bismarck, ND. On March 30, 2011, Lawrence went to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of seventy-five.
He is survived by his son, David Winter of Bismarck, ND; his brothers and sisters-in-law along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sylvia; sisters, Esther Winter, Ellen Bachman, Eunice Winter in infancy; and brother, Lester Winter.
