RANCHO CORDOVA, CA— Harold Kuyper, 80, Rancho Cordova, CA, formerly of Boyden, died
Thursday, Aug. 4, in Carmichael, CA.
Harold Kuyper was born in 1931 in Hull and raised in Boyden. Chief Master Sgt. Kuyper retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1979 after 26 years of service. He was selected Airman of the Year in 1970, an achievement that brought pride to the entire family. After retirement from the Air Force, he joined the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, where he worked as an analyst for five years. Although he and his wife, Marjorie, moved frequently during their time in the Air Force, Ranch Cordova, CA, has been their home for the last 35 years He worked hard to be a great dad for his sons. He served as assistant Scout master of Troop 33 in Rantoul, IL. He accompanied his sons on numerous backpacking trips throughout the Sierra, only rarely complaining about the route.
He and his wife loved to travel. They visited all 50 state; most of the Canadian provinces, and traveled extensively through Europe, New Zealand and Australia.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Marjorie Kuyper of Rancho Cordova, CA; two sons, Loren Kuyper and Bruce Kuyper; a daughter-in-law, Angela; a grandson; and a sister, Shirley.
