GERRIT DE JONG
February 6, 1883----1958
Funeral services were held at Tacoma, Wash., Monday for Gerrit De Jong, who died suddenly Saturday following a heart attack.
Mr. De Jong was born at Orange City, February 6, 1883, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Koen De Jong, early pioneers of Sioux county.
He received business training at the Mankato, Minn., schools and was active in lumber industry there and later at Tacoma and Spokane, Wash., where he lived for many years.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter: Gerald, Kenneth, and Ruth (Mrs. Richard), all of them married and living at Seattle, Wash. There are five grandchildren. Brothers and sisters surviving are: Steven and Henry De Jong of Orange City, Joe DeJong of Sheldon, Mrs. Minnie Muilenburg and Mrs. Chas. Sterrenburg of Orange City.
Preceding in death were his wife, one brother, Dr. Conrad De Jong, and one sister, Mrs. John Newendorp.
