SHELDON — Gertrude DeJong
82, of Sheldon died Wednesday Oct., 10, at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.
Services were Saturday, Oct. 13, at First Christian, Reformed Church in Sheldon with Rev. Richard Venemá officiating. Burial was at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon under the direction of Andringa Funeral Homer of Sheldon
DeJong, daughter of William and Carrie Van Surksum, was born April 20, 1908, in Hospers She attended school in Hospers. She married Bert DeJong March 16, 1933, in Hospers. Following their marriage, the couple farmed near Hospers until moving into Sheldon in 1957. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church and the Golden Hour Circle.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Franklin and William, both of Hospers, and Dennis of Sheldon; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grand-children.
