Crash Friday Kills Two Brothers Of Doon Iowa
Arnold De Jong, 20, and his brother, Kenneth, 16, both of Doon, were killed early Friday morning when their car went off a straight stretch of blacktop county road a half-mile from Doon and struck a tree.
They were the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Manus DeJong of Doon.
The car was demolished. Parts of it were in the tree.
A passing motorist discovered the wreckage about 1:30 a.m. Friday and a physician called to the
scene said death had occurred about an hour before. It was foggy in the area at the time of the accident.
Survivors include in addition to the parents, five brothers, Fred of Hull, Charles with the U. S. Army in Germany, Manuel of Des Moines, Herman with the U. S. Ar Force in VietNam, and Corky with the U. S. Army at Ft. Bragg, N.C., and three sisters, Mrs. Willis Vis of Hull, Mrs. Clarence DeRoon of Rock Valley and Mrs. Roger Doiron of Springvale, Maine.
Combined funeral services were held at the First Reformed church in Rock Valley at 2 p.m. Monday and burial was made in the Doon cemetery.
