Mrs. Van Wechel Succumbs at 65

Mrs. Arend F. Van Wechel, 65, of Orange City, died Wednesday, February 6, at the Sioux Center hospital. Death was attributed to a paralytic stroke. She had been physically incompetent for three years, and had been hospitalized for the past two months and four days.

Rev. C. Muyskens conducted the funeral services Saturday, February 9, in the American Reformed church. Special music was provided by C. E. Balkema. Pallbearers were D. Ver Steeg, C. Jacobs, Joe Reinders, John R. Reinders, Howard Jelgerhuis and Jim Woudstra.

She was born Eliza O. Hulley, the daughter of John and Henrietta Hulley, July 31, 1891, at Alexandria, Kentucky. She had lived in Orange City since July 30, 1919, when she was married to Mr. Van Wechel. Mrs. Van Wechel had been a nurse for many years and formerly worked here for Dr. De Bey.

Survivors include her husband, A. F. Van Wechel, and one daughter, Vera; sisters, Mrs. Ray C. Siry of Alexandria, Kentucky, and Mrs. Sallie Harris of Clearwater, Fla.; brothers, John Hulley of Cincinnatti, Ben Hulley of Lake Benton, Minn., and Bradford Hulley of Alexandria.

Van Etten funeral home was in charge of arrangements, with burial in the Orange City cemetery.
