Mrs. Marie McCrory received a message Sunday stating that Mrs. Ruth McCrory Ewing had passed away at her home in Canoga Park, near Los Angeles, Calif. that morning, Oct. 20th, following an illness of some time. She was taken to a hospital some time ago and a major operation performed and for a time she seemed to improve, being able to leave the hospital for her home only to be overcome by the malady which resulted in her death.
Ruth was born on the McCrory farm in Eagle township and spent her early years there, later coming to Ireton when her parents moved here. She was a graduate of the Ireton high school, being a member of the class of 1911. The other members of the class were Edna Wheeler McGregory, Gladys Riley Jones, Harold Irwin, Alta Chenhall Farringer, her brother, Charles Bert McCrory, deceased, Rilla Smith Meloy, Edna Whemple Reichenberg. Her training and principles were of the best and her lfie was one that cast sunshine wherever she was found. Quiet, yet a deep thinker, she always chose the things which meant most to those about her. Her sister Carrier, for 23 years a missionary in Japan, reached San Francisco July 3rd and was with her through her illness. Mrs. McCrory and daughter Jeanette of Ireton had the privilege of visiting her within the past three months. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her departure three brothers, John, Sam and Glenn McCrory, four sisters, Carrier, Mrs. Clara McCrory Atwood, Blanche and Jeanette, her step-mother, Mrs. Marie McCrory, and a host of friends.
