Suspect Monoxide in Death at Rock Valley
Mrs. Charles Van Vooren Jr.Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Van Vooren Jr., 49, of Rock Valley, whose body was found early Wednesday afternoon [Jan. 23] in her car in her garage, were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Patrick J. Nooney officiated and burial was in the parish cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday in the Porter Funeral Home.
Dr. L. J. Willekes of Sioux Center, Sioux County medical examiner, said an autopsy indicated a "suspicion" of carbon monoxide poisoning, but that specimens will be sent to the state laboratory at Iowa City for further tests before a final determination can be made.
Mrs. Van Vooren was found by a soft water service man at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday sitting in her car. Dr. Willekes said the ignition was on but that the motor wasn't running when she was found.
