FUNERAL FOR M. VAN WAART HELD TUESDAY
Dies at Home Here Friday MorningFuneral services were held at Vander Ploeg's Funeral Chapel here at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday for Marinus Van Waart, 71, a resident of Sioux Center since 1955, who died at his home at 214 7th St. N.E. here Friday morning [Feb. 7].
Services were conducted by the Rev. C. Hegeman and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg's Funeral home.
Mr. Van Waart was born May 3, 1892, in The Netherlands and immigrated to America at the age of 17. He settled at Sioux City and made his home there until moving to Sioux Center in 1955. He had been a member of the Netherlands Reformed church here, however, since 1927. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Peter DeBruin (Maria Beukhof) on November 15, 1955.
Survivors besides his wife include one daughter, Agnes (Mrs. Floyd Hendren), and the following stepchildren: Clara (Mrs. Dan DeVries) of Maurice, Tom of Rock Valley, Albert of Hawarden, Henry of Washington, John P. of Washington, Gerrit of Hull, Jake of Washington, Marie (Mrs. Gilbert Postma) of Doon, Helena (Mrs. Gerrit Niemeyer) of Doon, and Irene (Mrs. Peter Gorter). One stepdaughter, Jennie (Mrs. Henry Teunissen) preceded him in death.
Other survivors include a brother, Hans, of California; one sister, Mrs. Henry William Kroomenhoek of Sioux Center; three grandchildren; 52 step-grandchildren and seven great step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Marvin, John and James DeBruin and Hans, Leo and Peter Van Waart.
