VANWERVEN, VANBRUGGEN, WIEKAMP

Funeral services for Mr. William Art Van Werven of Matlock will be held Friday at 1 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Wiekamp, and at 1:30 at the First Reform. church at Boyden with Rev. Henri J. Steunenberg and Rev. Tom Zylstra officiating. Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery at Sheldon with arrangements under the direction of the Coop. Burial Association of Sioux Center. Pall bearers will be Ben Kammalade, Leo Getting, A. J. Bos, Henry Bosman, Gerrit Bomgaars and John Koerselman.

Mr. Van Werven died Monday August 9, at the age of 82 years, six months and 26 days. He was born in Kampen, Netherlands, January 13, 1872, and moved to Litchfield, N. Dak., in 1908. On November 29, 1910, he was united in marriage to Grace Van Bruggen, who preceded him in death on December 14, 1941. He was also preceded by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. In 1918 he moved to a farm near Matlock, in which vicinity he lived till his death. Following the death of his wife, he made his home with his daughter and family.

He is survived by his foster daughter, Mrs. William Wiekamp, and four grandchildren, Galdys, Ellen, Arlene and Jimmy Wiekamp.

From the Sioux County Capital, Nov. 11, 1954:

The estate of Willem A. Van Werven, late of Matlock was valued at $3794.08 and consists of $3669.08 in cash and some personal property. Decedent on August 11, 1942, conveyed about 159 acres of land to Allie Van Bruggen Wiekamp for $1000 and grantee was also to pay him $800 per year as long as he lived.
