Having been pastor here several years ago and the family burying ground being here, the body was brought here for burial Thursday evening. The funeral was held in Marshalltown. He was presiding elder of the Sheldon district for one term and held some of the leading appointments. He was stationed at Clear Lake, Rock Rapids, Cherokee, Ireton, Humboldt, and other places. He was an old soldier and was in his element when addressing soldiers or old settlers or on patriotic occasions. For the past twelve years he has been the chaplain at the Soldiers Home. His wife [Chloe] passed away February 28th, 1910. Beside the wife, a son and daughter are buried in the cemetery here.
