Attorney E. C. Ericson Among the Number--His Death was Very Sudden

Hon. E. C. Ericson of Elk Point, S.D., died at the home of Dr. F. A. Spofford at Flandreau, S.D., at five o'clock Tuesday morning [Feb. 8?] of hemorrhage of the brain. Mr. Ericson had just returned from Chicago, where he had consulted specialists regarding his affliction, but had received no encouragement. He came to the home of Dr. Spafford [Spofford?] on Saturday. His wife was summoned and reached his bedside Monday night, but he had become unconscious before her arrival. Mr. Ericson's aged mother and Mrs. E. W. Ericson and two children from Big Springs, took the train here yesterday afternoon for Elk Point to attend the funeral which was held today.

Mr. Ericson was born in Sweden and was 53 years of age. He came to Union county when a boy and steadily rose until he truly became Union county's foremost citizen and was recognized everywhere as one of the ablest men in the state. He leaves a wife and two daughters.
